RDMA’s: Bigger Than Ever!

Yesterday was the Radio Disney Music Awards and with it came a refreshing, new take on a children’s award show. Although, this was only Disney’s 5th annual music award show it was by far it’s best yet. The show this year had five hosts, which included Kelsea Ballerini, Jordan Fisher, Sofia Carson, Alex Aiono, and Jenna Ortega. All five brought something special to the show that made it entertaining for all ages to watch.

The RDMA’s were rich with talented musical performers, which were in my opinion, the best part of the whole night. However, four artists stood out from the rest of the pack. Grace Vanderwaal had a performance that touched your soul, when she played a Ukulele while singing her song, “I Don’t Know My Name.” Another performance that captured some Disney magic was one with Jordan Fisher, Alessia Cara, and Auli’i Cravalho, when they performed songs from the movie, Moana. Later on in the show Alessia Cara would top her previous performance by singing solo to her hit song, “Scars To Your Beautiful.”

There were 20 winners at the RDMA’s, but some awards took center stage, which included Britney Spears winning the Icon Award, Ariana Grande winning Best Female Artist, Alessia Cara winning Breakout Artist of the Year, and Niall Horan winning Best Male Artist. During the show Disney also gave a musical preview of the new Descendants 2 movie coming out in the summer on the Disney Channel.
